TALK OF THE TOWN - APRIL 22 NEXT EVENT

“A quick note of congratulations for Sunday’s event. What a great turn out, both vendors and customers; your hard work and personal commitment in getting it going made all the difference. I think there is no questions that you started a new 4th Sunday of the month tradition.”

“Thanks for having me out there. Had a great time meeting you. Can’t wait till next time.”

“Great success this past Sunday!! I’m looking forward to better weather, so wecan lollygag a little more!”

“Quick story…got rid of my coffee table and end tables months ago to look for something a little different. Found the oak coffee table, but had a tough time finding an end table. I knew what I wanted…oak and wrought iron. My husband thought I was a nut, but that was what I wanted. Low and behold, at the end of the center row……my table!!!”

“I am excited about your show…the traffic and sales were very good.”

“Great time….I see a lot of potential, can’t wait for next month.”

“I want you to know we came and shopped the flea market and found great finds. We love it and will be back to shop every month. I found fabulous antique lights from an old adobe for ourselves and many great items for our store. Thank you. We will spread the word for you.”

Generating Big Pre-Event Buzz With A Shot of Nostalgia - Historical Anaheim Antique Flea Market - March 25

“When Joseph Mooney saw the 1949 vegetable grater, he knew he had to have it. The hand-cranked…was just like the one his mother used to shred cabbage for her coleslaw. Hit by a wave of nostalgio, he bought it and hit the kitchen….There’s a new obsession at the intersection of genealogy and foodie culture—reconstructing beloved, long-lost family receipes. Fueled by nostalgia and thrift….” (Alina Dizik, The Wall Street Journal, 2/23/12)

At HEIRLOOMOLOGY, we’ve found the right people, found the right resources, grappled with the paperwork, and questioned everyone. Vendors and dealers are enhancing their offerings and amidst the rejuvenation of Center Street Promenade, the Historical Anaheim Antique Flea Market will fire on all cylinders Sunday, March 25 (8:00 am-3:00 pm).

The exterior facade 1930 & 40s architectural style renovations for Center Street Promenade are underway. While the Anaheim Planning Commission approved alcohol licenses for use at one barbershop and eight restaurants (to include outdoor dining and entertainment), event promotoer HEIRLOOMOLOGY snagged the opening day venue—giving shoppers and guests an all-access pass to vintage in the raw.

Carbon-neutral choice–not to mention, it’s, well, fun! Historical Anaheim Antique Flea Market – March 25

In retail jargon “adjacency” describes when a store positions two or more products next to each other that are seemingly unrelated but appeal to the same target customer. So why not weave an Eco-event into an outdoor vintage shopping event?

Just like most antique, retro, reclaim shoppers, utilizing environmentally-friendly resources plays a huge role in our philosophy. We know vintage shoppers seeking a departure from the ordinary also value a return to the basics — working toward a society that uses less and recycles more.

So, we welcome the opportunity to introduce recycle and recovery bins to an antiques and heirlooms outdoor events industry that often underutilizes such resources. Don’t think Southern Cali needs to embrace this concept on a larger scale? Next time you’re bargain hunting for fresh retro finds, note all the empty bottles, cans, coffee, and tea beverage containers spilling over the waste bins at your favorite outdoor retro event.

For starters, look for sleek, black recycle bins to place your empty California Refund Value (CRV) beverage containers throughout the Historical Anaheim Outdoor Antique Flea Market on March 25. At Heirloomology, we’re reinforcing the idea of old time simplicity, delivering an eco-shopping environment that encourages environmental awareness firsthand for vendors, dealers, merchants, and shoppers.

Vital Cog in Wheel That Spins the Antique Industry - Historical Anaheim Antique Flea Market - March 25 Opening Day

In his book just out, M. Lindstrom says, “A bruise on the apple. A chip in the china. A scratch on the old armoire. Just enough imperfection to create that authentic, slightly “used” feel can go a long way in evoking memories or that battered old toy we dug out from the attic or the scuffed bracelet we inherited from our grandmother.”

At HEIRLOOMOLOGY, we’re fond of memories that recall a time when life was simpler. This March 25 and every 4th Sunday, we’re giving shoppers an opportunity to re-experience the world as we first encountered it when we were young.

Accepting a solid endorsement from vintage merchants who recognize the power of nostalgia, the Historical Anaheim Antique Flea Market offers shoppers, strolling the Center Street Promenade in Downtown Anaheim, a way to reconnect with their pasts.

It’s 1955 and you’re in a record shop. The proprietor puts on “Maybellene” by a newcomer named Chuck Berry. You’re enjoying it….” Wall Street Journal 1/15/12.

Shoppers will experience a shot of nostalgia united by carefree tunes “back when music was still music.” Merchants merchandising their wares with a rustic, “aw-shucks” touch will reinforce this ideal of old-time simplicity. Further allusions to time are sure to be enhanced with a visit to the vintage clothing booths, where vendors understand that consumers in search of an authentic look, are drawn to small, tattered imperfections romanticized by bygone eras.

Be sure to look for the dealer whose passion to faithfully recreate, refinish, repair and revitalize wicker and bamboo antiques from an age long past has garnered the attention of film studios Warner Bros., Fox, Paramount, Universal and Disney as well as the TV studios of ABC, NBC and CBS.

This departure from the ordinary has given us tremendous momentum going forward. With some selling spaces still available, where are you the 4th Sunday of each month?

Be a part of opening day!
